Finance Director

Company Overview
My client is listed Medical Device company from the US that specializes in products related to surgical and medical care. They help over 100 million patients worldwide each year, and their equipment is used in 17 of the top 20 hospitals worldwide.

Job Description
You will be responsible for the complete oversight of company finances and partner with the local leadership team to drive financial performance and process improvement. You will work closely with the Finance teams across APAC and the US and will be providing leadership and hands-on support to the local accounting team to maximize the effectiveness of their role.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for directing all areas of finance, accounting, and compliance with local regulations for Japan operations of this multinational corporation.
• Supervise accounting and finance team; track and measure key performance metrics and provide feedback and coaching.
• Prepare and manage financial statements / reports, budgets, forecasts, variances, payroll / commissions, disbursement and tax / local statutory documents; manage general ledger and actively monitor department budgets.
• Liaise with Japan President and local management team to analyze financial information and advise on strategies to meet sales and profitability targets.
• Interface with external and internal auditors to provide information and evidence supporting routine audits.

Requirements
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting, including hands on experience in closing the books
• Two to five years of accounting or auditing experience in a listed business
• Firm grasp of accounting systems knowledge
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and manage competing priorities/deadlines.
• Appropriate handling of confidential information.
• Experience working in a US company and multinational environment.
• Fluent English and Japanese; strong global communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• CPA holder with Big 4 experience is especially welcome.

Education:
• Bachelor of accounting degree or equivalent required. Master’s degree preferred.
