UK Designor brand with a sheek and exciting style. Currently expanding in Japan but very well developed in Europe that sells menswear, womenswear apparel, footwear, and accessories in 232 stores, and has approximately 3,200 employees across 27 countries.
Job Contents:
The Head of Retail Japan holds the local country responsibility for all retail- related initiatives in the country, coordinating, steering, supporting and controlling the local functional teams in the country as well as the distribution markets. This includes own and franchise stores as well as Key Account shop in shops (Wholesale). Thus, the candidate is overall accountable and responsible for all areas within the local country retail team.
· Actively supporting and delivering the global retail strategy to the markets in the aspects of expansion, store operations, marketing / visual merchandising, retail finance, and retail organization
· Translating the company vision and strategy to regional/country-specific goals and operational business targets and proactively developing retail strategy with HQ retail team for Asia.
· Meeting and exceeding agreed net sales and profitability targets
· Local expansion strategy & planning
· Acting as conduit between regional/HQ retail team and the local retail teams
· Actively managing the local retail teams, setting overall targets and measures to achieve their commercial goals
· Regular travel schedule to visit POS at least twice a month
· Location search/ visits, landlord visit, location approvals
· Implementation of tools in retail but also at Key Account Wholesale partners
· Manage, lead and take ownership for all retail teams ensuring that all team members have the knowledge and practical skills required to achieve retail excellence
Requirements:
· Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in relevant retail industries, ideally Sports/Outdoor/Fashion/Apparel industry
· Minimum of 3 years in senior role in retail management and/or operations, ideally for a European and/or US-based brand
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, sales or equivalent
· Fluency in Japanese, ideally fluent in English
· Ideal age: 35-50 years
· Culturally broad-minded attitude
· Traveling will be required: approx. 50%
· Deep knowledge of retail landscape in Japan
· Generalist knowledge of daily store operations
· Understanding of different retail channels incl. department stores, shopping malls, street shops & eCommerce
· Experience of different formats: full price stores, factory outlet centres, shop in shops
