Job Description
Assisting the Operations Manager to minimize loss and claims by managing inventory according to the storage characteristics of the fruit.
Assisting the Assistant Operations Manager with ensuring that fruit is stored and delivered to customers in the market in the best possible condition.
Communicating relevant fruit quality and other operational information to New Zealand Head Office as required.
Working with Assistant Operations Manager to run the Japan Supplier Accountability/condition checking process.
1. Ensure optimum supply of fruit to customers
- Work closely with Kanto terminals to ensure the best storage and management of inventory.
- Be clear and firm with requirements and our expectations from the terminal staff.
2. Communication
-Ensure the Japan Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager are aware of any operational issues which may impact the performance of the business or the return to growers for Japan and recommend solutions to problems.
3. Assist with the management of Japan’s Quality Management Processes including the following:
- Inventory and fruit loss reporting.
- Supplier Accountability process including reporting to HQ.
- Ripening and fruit condition process.
- Monitoring food safety and market access requirements/issues.
- Look for opportunities for improving current processes in Japan.
4. Management of contracted staff
- Motivate contracted checking staff and work with the Assistant Operations Manager to ensure staff are adequately trained and managed.
5. Relationship management
- Ensure strong customer focus.
- Develop professional business relationships with all in-market contractors and service providers.
