Job Description
- Provide information and direction for individual account teams including financial planning on relevant asset and budget allocation
- Participate in the regular Tokyo 2020 operations calls for all global client management and operations support groups including finance, legal and procurement.
- Manage the day to day operations of the GMR Tokyo office, including operations and staff management
- Utilize previous experiences to leverage all resources and maximize efficiencies
- Support development of the Tokyo 2020 Operations budget and collaborate with individual client teams to identify and secure funding to achieve financial goals
- In collaboration with client teams, ensure contractual rights and assets are implemented within legal parameters
- Develop and foster relationships with TOCOG personnel to ensure GMR awareness at various levels of the organization
- Act as liaison between Client Management and other GMR teams in supporting Tokyo 2020 client programs
- Mediate and negotiate with client partners, properties, events and vendors to develop strong partnerships for mutual growth and profit
- Provide superiors with decision-making support through on-going participation in management and special project meetings
-Identify areas to streamline processes and share knowledge within the company to improve bottom-line results
- Identify, negotiate and contract with local suppliers to provide necessary support for delivery of client programs across various disciplines (transportation, accommodation, activities, staffing, IT, etc.) where necessary
- Provide support to Business Development efforts including opportunity budgeting, local intelligence, and participation in pitches when requested
Requirements
< Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities>
• Minimum 5-7 years of agency or major brand experience, preferably in sports/entertainment marketing or event management
• Bilingual Japanese and English
• Global event management experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills including the ability to successfully interface with senior executives within and from client teams
• Proven decision-making skills
• Ability to work and succeed in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
• Ability to work independently and to self-motivate toward day-to-day objectives
• Proven ability to transition from strategy to tactics and from program development to execution
• Ability to speak Japanese and English fluently at business level
Educational and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 5-7 years in event planning and management; MBA desirable, or equivalent work experience
• Strong international events experience
