TITLE
Accounting Manager
REPORTING TO
Finance Manager (Head of Finance)
OBJECTIVE
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Manager supervises a few accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities. The Manager have contact with senior-level Attorneys and the Executive Directors and Controller which require strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. English communication skills are mandatory.
RESPONSIBILITIES
■Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
■Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
■Ensure the timely reporting of all financial information.
■Assist the Controller in the daily banking requirements.
■Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
■Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
■Supports budget and forecasting activities.
■Collaborate with the other finance staff people and managers to achieve overall department goals and KPIs.
■Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining high level of accuracy.
■Advises staff regarding the handling of reporting transactions.
■Responds to inquiries from the Executives or the Group regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
■Work with the Finance Manager to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
■Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
■Provide training or explanatory sessions to new and existing employees as needed.
■ Support Finance Manager with special projects and workflow process improvements.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:BA/BS
Experience:Five to seven years of prior supervisory experience in the finance reporting, general ledger area. Five to ten years of management or supervisory roles in accounting.
Skills:Verbal and written communication skills both in Japanese and in English. Interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills are required. Need ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
Other:
Work Location: Work location will be at Shin-Yokohama HQ. However, it is still under construction and the position is requested to work at current HQ in Sendai for months before moving to the new HQ office.
Salary:Around 8M yen annually.
