Job Description
The position will be responsible for managing IT projects, as well as a portfolio of projects according to outlined road-map and within the assigned budget, in the areas of development of business applications for logistics, finance, forecasting, customer care and business intelligence, as well as infrastructure. The incumbent will be accountable for project deliveries and associated risk management while being the bridge between business and on-shore/offshore IT teams, keeping all project stakeholders abreast of the project status, changes, risks, and challenges.
Primary responsibilities
Accountable to the stakeholders for the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives within the given constraints of scope, time, and budget.
Managing overall IT projects with respect to planning, organizing, securing resources, managing to the resources’ commitments, and communicating to all stakeholders and relevant parties
Maintaining budget spent, funding committed, task statuses, percentage project completion, project milestone date(s), and outstanding issues
Accountable for identifying risks and issues, and responsible for escalating where and when necessary, re-estimating to accommodate sanctioned changes, and securing or re-securing appropriate resources and funding
Facilitating discussions within the project team to address issues and risks for the purpose of proposing resolutions for leadership decisions
Responsible for building and maintaining the project plan based on inputs from the relevant SME’s, negotiating with resource managers on resource allocations, monitoring task commitments from assigned resources, task status, scope, and issues, and ensuring timely communications and proper information across the entire project team members.
Responsible for adhering to the MSF standards in the IT Operating Model, including executing to the necessary gate reviews, ensuring necessary project artifacts as official project records to comply with company policies and tractability practices (e.g., SOX), and the proper closure of a project
Working and coordinating with all team leaders who participate in the same project to ensure the well orchestrated quality completion of the project
Working with project team leaders to ensure that proper resource allocation is done on the project, including the creation of the project entities in Clarity (or similar time tracking application) and regular monitoring, updating of project status in Clarity.
Keeping relevant records of spending towards the project to ensure transparency on budget variances
Participating in performance feedback to resource managers and to business leaders of project resources and vendors
Contributing to the enhancement of the MSF standards and project management methodologies, including clarity in roles and accountability, artifact requirements, productivity improvement opportunities, and means to ensure better outcomes with respect to quality, speed, and cost
Providing orientation and guidance to contractor project managers to ensure our PM standards are met
Road mapping, budgeting and resourcing the portfolio of IT projects in the areas of business applications development related, but not limited, to logistics, and finance.
Requirements
Technical Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required; Graduate Degree desirable
5+ years of enterprise experiences in project management for IT application development required
Professional experiences in SDLC, Extreme Programming, Agile, MSF
Communication Skills
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Proven ability in working effectively with all level of management and staff positions, including pressured situations
Other
Results driven, exceptionally self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail and strong sense of personal accountability
Focused on excellence in own work and business/IT processes
Experience working with diverse cultures, including working with offshore IT organizations
Occasional need to work off hours, Occasional need to travel within or outside Japan
May be occasionally assigned roles of similar scope and complexities when business situation arises
Preferred Skills
PMP or equivalent industry certification
Professional experiences in any of the following strongly preferred: Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics Axapta, .Net development
2+ years of enterprise experiences in management of external vendors (on/offshore) preferred, including multiple culture and languages
2+ years of enterprise experiences in analysis, design, development, and/or QA of business applications and software desirable
Experience in operations support desirable
