Job Overview
This role requires very strong administrative and technical leadership, oversight in planning, design, implementation, operation and control of large, complex Linux/Windows and Virtualization technology environments. The Director, Systems will ensure that our systems are reliable and that performance meets or exceeds that of contracted service levels. S/he will partner with highly motivated cross-functional individuals focused on a common goal of delivering cutting edge service to meet aggressive business demands in an ever changing environment. The Director, Systems will be the subject matter expert for Systems technologies and will have frequent interaction with a wide range of client, supplier, regulatory, application, architectural, and systems personnel.
Responsibilities
•Provide direction and technical expertise for the team and act as senior resource for all existing and new initiatives and complex projects, including systems, capacity planning, system deployments, and system and network installs/configurations.
•Manage/Lead a global team which may be local, remote or offshore.
•Develop process and procedure to streamline daily, weekly and monthly operations leveraging automation wherever possible.
•Ensure projects adhere to standard guidelines, timelines are met, and that the projects produce a supportable solution.
•Mentor and develop team in technical and project delivery areas.
•Provide effective communication across organization as needed, (operations, infrastructure, development, vendors and clients)
•Assist in the development and ensure conformance to established system architecture, methods, regulations, standards and practices and participate in their creation.
•Participate in long range planning and ensure those plans are consistent with business objectives for end user capabilities, system resiliency, disaster tolerance, and compliance.
•Take a lead role in setting the systems technology and automation vision for the organization, define projects and execute them to achieve that vision alongside other members.
•Analyze and problem-solve complex technical issues with minimal supervision, and work within a team environment while communicating well to a diverse set of colleagues.
•Recommend staffing adjustments as needed for proper resource alignment.
Required Qualifications
•In depth understanding of Windows and Linux, ( Redhat, Debian)
•In depth knowledge of virtualization (specifically VMWare), performance tuning, high availability, fault tolerance
•Significant experience working with high availability solutions, particularly Redhat, Windows clustering.
•Experience working in large, complex data center/network environments.
•Very good understanding on network tuning, naming services
•Strong scripting/automation experience
•Experience engaging with and/or making presentations to clients and senior management
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field or equivalent work experience. Master degree in computer or related field a plus.
