Overview of Role
Dynamic software engineer with an interest in working primarily in the Windows stack and also with Linux. The position is a tier 2 – 3 where team experience would be preferable. We are looking for core competencies in programming languages such as C# and SQL Server along with areas of expertise in web technologies, networking fundamentals, and basic system administration. We desire a candidate with strong analytical/troubleshooting skills, good communication skills and a good engineering foundation. The position is oriented around support but leans on many other functional groups including development, system administration, and database management. Support is provided on multiple software products in terms of troubleshooting code or system issues, working with development to build more supportable products, building tools to automate support tasks, and creating appropriate documentation. The environment is fast-paced, so the ideal candidate is self-managed with strong organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
-Develop procedures and processes for applications support and maintenance
-Monitor the platform metrics and ensure that they meet client SLA
-Account setup and onboarding
-Work with the development team to help scope and design products for supportability, reporting and capacity management.
-Develop software tools in ASP.NET/C# to enable automation of support tasks
-Provide level 2 support by troubleshooting application code.
-Provide level 2 support by troubleshooting database, networking and system issues and working with these teams to solve problems.
-Communicate technical issues with internal and external customers.
-Pull reporting metrics or application data for ad-hoc requests using code and database queries
-Supplement QA as needed for large scale releases
-Document and train others on application code base and system architecture
Job requirements and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• ASP .NET framework, including experience with IIS
• Web development experience using C# Language
• Visual Studio 2010/2012, including using TFS for version control, workflow, etc.
• Experience with queries, stored procedures, views and functions in SQL Server
• Experience with web technologies such as JavaScript, AJAX, HTML/XML, Cookies
• Experience debugging code written by other developers
• Strong analytical, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to apply technical analysis of application issues to solve customer reported problems.
• Ability to communicate with non-technical users (written and verbal)
• Some experience in Linux/Unix
• MTA/MCSA/MCSE certification is a plus
• Experience with DNS a plus
• Knowledge of networking protocols a plus
• Experience with monitoring systems (ITRS/Geneos preferred) a plus
