SUMMARY
Looking for experienced Desktop Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team, with main responsibility to support main desktop engineering functions, including desktop security, patching, scripting, package deployment and system management.
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities Perform Desktop Engineering functions, including desktop security, patching, scripting, package deployment and system management
• Administer desktop management application
• Design, build, test and deploy application packages using packaging tools and script utilities
• Monitor, research and resolve problems and requests relating to the corporate desktop management application
• Utilize desktop management application to monitor software licenses and ensure compliance.
• Provide PC support organization with assistance in utilizing full functionality of desktop management application, including asset management, remote control (via LAN, WAN and internet), profile migration, PXE, and departmental profiles
• Provide IT management with regular reports related to deployments, asset inventory and software compliance
Manage desktop security
• Administer corporate desktop anti-virus and anti-spyware application
• Test, validate and deploy Windows OS and application security patches, hot fixes and updates
• Provide IT management with regular and thorough status reports on desktop security, including virus protection and patching
Manage desktop imaging
• Manage corporate imaging policies and procedures
• Create, test, validate, document, update and maintain desktop and laptop images
• Administer corporate imaging solution
Provide Tier 3 Desktop Technical Support
• Address desktop-related issues requiring tier 3 support
• Mentor and help develop Service Desk and PC Support technicians
• Provide guidance on the administration of Microsoft AD in relation to rights and administer desktop-related group policies
Provide desktop architectural guidance
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge, skills and abilities on new and emerging technologies that improve employee efficiency and effectiveness
• Create and maintain internal systems documentation
EDUCATION
BA or BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field and equivalent work experience
OTHER
English proficient (Japanese would be a plus)
Requirements
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience supporting desktop hardware and software, Microsoft operating systems and desktop applications (e.g., Office, Project, Visio)
• Familiarity with Microsoft AD, particularly in regard to GPOs
• Experience with System Management tools, with emphasis on OS Deployment, Application Deployment, and Patching (SCCM, MDT, LAN Desk, etc.)
• Skilled in writing deployment scripts utilizing VB scripts and Install Sshield for package distribution
• Strong familiarity with IT data security principles and experience applying security patches
