This is a great position for someone who wants a nice, easygoing work environment with good coworkers and opportunities alongside teaching at the main school. We teach adults, children of all ages and also have relationships with several schools in the local area. We are in a small city with the Tokkaido line and Shinkansen trains making it easy to go to Tokyo or a nearby city for a day.
Compensation: 3,000 JPY/hour and support with an apartment close to the main work location
Vacation Time: 2 weeks each for summer, winter and spring vacations
Start Date: April 1, 2022, with a minimum 1-year commitment
Working Days and Hours: Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday; start and end times depend on the specific teacher, but you have flexibility to leave if you don't have a class at the time.
Duties:
**teaching EFL classes (beginner, intermediate and advanced) for mainly children and some adults with the supplied school materials (books, cards, charts, workbooks and documents)
**supporting two key school events each year for our students (developing games, making props, editing and revising speeches, etc)
**maintaining regular lesson records regarding the students' required course content for the school year (target vocabulary words, grammar, phonics charts, etc)
**sometimes making up games, worksheets or anything you feel would help your class; some room for incorporating your natural teaching styles
**teaching online in some cases, but mostly in person
**assessing students at the end of the year as they level up
**helping with free conversation, Eiken, entrance exams and other special cases
Qualifications: Native English speaker preferred.
At least an undergraduate degree, a minimum of 2 years classroom experience (adults and children preferred), a language teaching certification (highly preferred) and a positive, easygoing attitude, currently in Japan and can start in April
