Job Responsibilities

1) Position Summary
We have  more than 70 million users and provides some of the most popular Internet services in Japan today.
Terabytes of data are generated every day and this data needs to be analyzed and modeled.
This requres scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation. Large-scale and complex data sets should be analysed to uncover new trends and patterns.


We are looking for excellent engineers and/or analysts who have the passion for contributing our business (sales, revenue, and so on) and competence and experience for contributing business by analyzing and utilizing data.


In this position you will have to create value out of data analysis by
-- building algorithms to improve search results and ad targeting quality
-- predictive modeling of aggregate customer behavior
-- making business recommendations / developing metrics to drive business decisions




You will work closely with software engineering members to implement your data analysis algorithms on a large scale.


2) Responsibilities
Create business solutions through a combination of science and software.
Considering hypothesis by concrete business effect.
Development products / service cooperating with project manager, developer and business staff.
Tracking business effect through products and leading next action.
Operating and managing product to keep product availability cooperating with operation staff.


Job Requirements

3) Minimum Qualifications
- M.S. (Ph.D. strongly preferred) in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or other quantitative science.
- Deep understanding of mathematics and its application to business.
- Strong software development ability in Java &/or C++
- Experience in Linux Administration
- Experience working with very large data sets
- Communication skill in English (TOEIC 800 or above)
- 5+ years data analytics experience on business, preferably EC company


4) Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in machine learning.
- Programming experience with scripting language (Python, Perl, Ruby, …)
- Experience with distributed systems. Experience in Cassandra, Hadoop/HBase, or MongoDB is a plus.
- Working knowledge of NoSQL storage technologies
- Preferably working experience in Japan 1+ years


5) Communication Language
- English : At least business level is necessary(TOEIC 800 or above)
- Japanese :not necessary. (But business level is helpful.)
