About the Team / チームについて
Our Tax team is building to work with other corporate functions on tax advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy. We ensure compliance with direct (corporate income tax) and indirect tax and solve tax-related issues.
We are seeking a Head of Tax for our Japan operations specializing in international tax to be based in Tokyo. The candidate must have strong tax technique skills and be capable of dealing with tax audit/litigations.

Responsibilities / 業務内容
1. This person will collaborate with the business side and product teams.
2. Formulation and execution of the Japanese tax system and related planning strategies in line with business objectives.
3. Identify and mitigate potential tax risks.
4. Cooperate with other departments such as sales, finance and accounting, and legal affairs to support and propose wide-area tax issues.
5. Review of tax returns prepared by external tax accountants, payment of taxes, compliance with tax compliance - Research on the latest trends in Japanese tax law.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
1. This role will be JP based
2. JP fluent / ENG proficient
3. Bachelor degree or above. Majoring in finance or tax is preferred
4. Minimum 2-3 years of work experience related to the Finance industry in an international company.
5. Deep knowledge of Japanese tax and ability to read business models
6. Familiar with Japanese tax compliance requirements and procedures such as consumption tax, corporate tax, and withholding income tax
7. Ability to share with other departments and provide practical advice on complex business issues

4. グローバル企業および/またはグローバル税理士法人で3年以上の日本の税務経験
5. 日本の税務に関する深い知識とビジネスモデルを読む能力
6. 消費税、法人税、源泉所得税といった日本の税務コンプライアンス要件および手続きに精通していること
7. 複雑な業務上の問題について、他部署と共有し、実践的なアドバイスを提供できること

Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience in the technology, media and internet industries is preferred
2. Those who have a Certified Public Accountant / Tax Accountant qualification in Japan or passed core subjects
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong teamwork awareness
4. Curious, sincere and hardworking
5. Those who are motivated and can actively challenge

WFH up to 2x a week
Flextime with core hours between: 11:00 - 17:00 (depends on the team)
