Company Overview
My client is a globally leading US Bio-Pharmaceutical company located in Tokyo, and they are famous for developing innovative cancer therapies that transform and save lives across the world.

They are about to release a new treatment that will forever change the way that we deal with and recover from cancer, and as such they are now looking for an Accounting and Tax Manager to join their team as they continue to grow.

Job Description
Role Overview
➢ This position is a key member of the Accounting & Tax Department reporting to the Manager of Accounting & Tax. This role will be involved in all aspects of accounting, tax, procurement and cash management.

Key Responsibilities:
➢ Responsible for monthly close activities, GL accounts reconciliation, Inter-company activities reconciliation, in compliance with US GAAP standards
➢ Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results for both internal management and external reporting purposes
➢ Responsible for performing banking transactions accurately.
➢ Responsible for completion of Local taxation including but not limited to Corporate income tax, Consumption tax, Inhabitant tax, Enterprise tax, Office Tax, and Property tax with consultation of external tax accountants
➢ Perform annual translation of financial statements from US GAAP to local statutory / local tax requirements of Japan
➢ Responsible for supporting procurement transactions and take part in material vendor competitions.
➢ Supporting and supervising of accounting staff in order to ensure correct transaction and control environment.
➢ Responsible for internal/external audit preparation and coordination of the process as the first line contact person.
➢ Develop or expand on existing accounting policies and procedures for each area of responsibility
➢ Participate in financial systems upgrades preparation, validation and implementation
➢ Continuously review and make recommendation to improve process efficiencies throughout the entire accounting process.

Requirements
➢ Accounting degree or similar degree in Finance / Business Management is preferred
➢ At least 7 years' work experience in Finance / Accounting field
➢ Extensive knowledge of Japanese tax law surrounding corporate taxation
➢ Working experience in companies regulated by US GAAP and SOX
➢ Deep experience with integrated accounting software (Oracle or SAP is preferred)
➢ Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Word
➢ Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence is a plus
➢ Excellent cross functional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
➢ Fluent in English

Please note that this position is open to candidates at both Associate Manager and Manager level, depending on individual experience and ability.
