Job Description
1. Description of Primary Role & Responsibility

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

The main purpose of this role is to lead MSL team to ensure the following operations;

Based on a scientific knowledge and a wide knowledge of disease area, build up trust relationship with the domestic and international medical experts (medical key opinion leaders (KOLs) and external customers (HCP, academic societies etc.) through scientific exchanges
Through scientific exchanges with the domestic and international medical KOL, identify unmet medical needs, collect and analyze insight, and execute medical strategies corresponding to company business
Appropriately evaluate the effectiveness and safety of drugs in the disease area in charge based on scientific information
Support correspondence of UMR or slide review
Medical to Medical Communication

Execute scientific exchange/ with domestic and international medical experts (medical KOLs/health care providers (HCP)/academic societies) in the therapeutic area in charge about the latest medical information (papers, conference presentations, guidelines, safety information, etc.) and build trust relationships
Promote the appropriate use of company products in response to requests from external experts in a fair and balanced manner based on relevant regulations
Appropriately respond to unsolicited medical requests (UMRs) including the information related to pipeline products
If necessary, appropriately support Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR), Compound Transfer Program (CTP), Clinical Research Collaboration (CRC) and Non-interventional Study (NIS) managed by Japan Medical Affairs Product Lead (J-MAPL) based on relevant laws, regulations of industry and internal SOPs.
Collection and analysis of customer insights

Collect and analyze insights of HCPs regarding state of treatment in therapeutic areas in charge. Identify unmet medical needs (UMN) through the insights.
Understand how company medicines and activities are useful and reflect it in the medical strategy through communication with medical experts
Properly feedback insights from important HCPs, including KOLs, to relevant departments according to rules
Internal Medical Communication

Ensure the scientific validity of promotional activities by providing latest scientific information to commercial colleagues based on scientific evidence and results of medical insight analysis.
Communicate J-MAPL and Office Medical colleagues about UMN relevant to medical strategy of assigned product.
Collaborate with J-MAPL to create a medical activity plan.
Support medical and scientific education to the commercial colleagues from medical perspectives in the assigned therapeutic area.
Acquire a wide range of medical and pharmaceutical information and collect the latest medical information in their area of responsibility.
Management of MSL team

Effectively collaborate with J-MAPL and Office MA colleagues and ensure strategic alignment to develop and execute Medical Plan for drugs in Japan
Oversight MSR team members’ medical capabilities and training
Oversight the budgets for MSR team members on the product
Supervise and guide MSR team members to conduct activities in accordance with corporate policy/SOP.
Compliance

Penetrate value of Medical Affairs both internally and externally while adhering the Code of Conduct of Medical Affairs (e.g., MI 02 Policy, Code of practice by JPMA, Guidelines on Pharmaceutical Product Communications by MHLW)
Your Reporting Responsibilities (YRR)

Execute "collecting and reporting safety information" in all company products with complying with applicable laws and the company policy. Take training timely on safety reporting.

Requirements
2. Qualification

Education: Master or higher degree in the health science fields (medicine, pharmacy, biology, biochemistry, epidemiology, public health, etc.) or pharmacist. MD or PhD degree is preferable.

Technical skills: Extensive knowledge and experiences in clinical development, commercial development and medical affairs. Excellent scientific thinking and judgment ability. Excellent communication skills to be able to do equal discussion based on scientific knowledge with HCPs. Understand compliance and relating various regulations. Have project management skills.

Language: Fluent in English. Ability to read scientific papers in English, exchange of English emails with Global medical staff, ability to create protocols / reports in English, ability to conduct telephone conference with Global medical staff. TOIEC score 730 is required. TOEIC score 850 or over is preferable.

Managerial skill: Managerial skills required, such as, strategic thinking, logical mind, creativity/innovation, negotiation, decision making, cooperativeness, well-influence, coaching/training, and operating organization. Lead the MSL team and internal/external stakeholders to achieve goals.

Behavioral skills: Demonstrate ability to listen, understand and integrate opinions, seizes accountability, incorporates new knowledge constantly, has self-awareness, works effectively with cross-functional colleagues, demonstrates business acumen

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical fields (medical or clinical development) or equivalent. It is highly desirable to have research experience and achievements (conference presentations, scientific papers) in the field of medicine or pharmaceutical science.
