Job Description
• Generate and manage purchase orders of finished products to satisfy customer demands based on the future orders from the trade shows which are held twice a year, forecasted demands including Supplier forecasts and inventory levels provided by Demand Planning team and other orders such as custom order good and SMUs.
*SMU = special make-up unit
• Manage suppliers including cost variance, delivery, quality and terms. Evaluate the supplier performance and take necessary actions to risk hedge, and also co-working with Product Development team for new supplier qualification. And also seek for the opportunity to utilize the suppliers contracted by the US procurement team.
• Develop/maintain the material plan for all product lines based on the forecasted demand, including Supplier forecasts and inventory levels. Communicate all forecasts and capacity requirements to suppliers.
• Participate in developing capacity plans with the US procurement team.
• Implement cost savings programs relative to overall company budget targets.
• Implement change and/or develop new internal/external processes as required to improve the efficiency of the organization.
• Co-work with Product Development team to address any issues that arise regarding product quality. Ensures quality standards are adhered to by all suppliers and assists in resolving any related issues.
• Manage the stock receipt and reconciliation process and resolve invoice queries relating to quantities delivered if occurs. Basic Financial/Accounting experience and knowledge are required.
• Maintain system data including supplier and cost information masters.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in business or the equivalent applicable work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant procurement experience on an international level. Prior sporting goods or apparel or relevant FCMG buying experience is MUST.
• Experience and knowledge of Importing/Exporting for material and/or finished products and relative regulations.
• Proven negotiation, facilitation, cost-out, and sourcing partnership skills.
• Proven success in managing suppliers. Ability to effectively negotiate complex purchases oversea purchase included..
• Knowledge of ERP and MRP systems with a preference for JD Edwards’s experience.
• Ability to coordinate relevant cross-functional stakeholders to achieve the required results.
• Strong interpersonal and both oral and written communication skills in Japanese and English. Business level of English is required to communicate with US team often.
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Demand analysis and planning, warehouse management and experience is beneficial.
• A real passion and willingness to throw oneself in a varied and busy role as Rawlings Japan is still in an establishing phase as a company.
