Job Description
Position: Confectionary & Sweets Food Technologist
Division/Function: R&D

ROLE
As the Food Technologist for Sweet Goods, you will manage and execute new product development to grow the business in Taste & Wellbeing, including flavours, functional and nutritional ingredients, taste raw material, and integrated solutions
You will work with Sales, Marketing, Flavour Creation, and New Business Development members to execute strategies and deliver our goals.

Take a lead in application briefs from both internal and external customers where th primary need is sweet goods application support
Develop new integrated solution (IS) products
Create application recipes of Functional and Nutritional Ingredients (FNI) and Taste raw materials, as well as flavours that we sell
Evaluate, select, and support optimization of flavours / integrated solutions
Lead projects and coordinate internal stakeholders to optimize proposals
Be a local technical expert and local project lead for Sweet Goods applications across multiple ends, uses both internally and with customers
Present complex product-related technical presentations including translating market trends into innovative application demos for key customers
Provide technical input in key business meetings
Demonstrate expert technical problem-solving skills and understanding of how to adjust functional and nutritional ingredient formulations to create the best solutions for our customers
Maintain a safe, clean and organized laboratory environment following EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines

Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science or equivalent
At least 5 years of relevant working experience in the food industry, preferably as product developer sweet goods / bakery new product development experience, or food service menu creation
new product development or application development experience with functional ingredients / commodity raw materials is also acceptable
In-depth knowledge manufacturing process and problem solving of sweet goods mass-production
internal coordination work / project management
communication skills including presentation and customer interface communication
Fluent level Japanese & English language
