Job Description
As the Business Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day affairs to realize our offshore wind plan within the agreed strategy and budget. At any point in time, you would be developing multiple opportunities in parallel, and -in future, manage operating assets.
You will be the country leader for offshore wind and nurture a multi-disciplinary team (local and internationally based) whilst creating a culture underscored by HSSE, diversity and inclusiveness and a learner mind set. You will also work closely with colleagues across New Energies, Energies and wider group to advance a local customer centric integrated power business.
You will represent company in our project partnerships, industry, suppliers and contractors and use your relationship skills to cultivate a supportive business network to originate new opportunities for group.
In partnership with the country chair office and the corporate relations team you would advocate, where appropriate, for ideas that would positively evolve the local offshore wind regulatory framework.
Requirements
This is a key role to realize our offshore wind ambition in Japan. We’re therefore looking for someone who loves learning, strives, is highly motivated, seeks challenge, driven, committed to improvement, and highly determined. The nature of the role would need the successful candidate to be a strong commercial leader with a passion to develop a growing team.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with challenging conventional thinking and approaches to arrive at innovative, pragmatic and effective solutions and ways of working to overcome the challenges and to seize the opportunities inherent to building a new business in an industry that is new to Japan. More specifically, the following requirements are must haves:
1.Ability to speak, read and write Japanese at native level and fluency in English.
2.Bachelor ’s degree education, an MBA is an advantage.
3,Substantial experience in renewable power generation/offshore wind development in a joint venture setting, ideally you have already led the development of an offshore wind farm before from origination to commissioning.
4,Thorough understanding of the evolving Japanese power market structure, corporate power purchase agreements, renewable energy certificates and offshore wind regulatory framework.
5.Perseverance and ability to cultivate strong positive working relationships internally and externally to get things done;
6.Demonstrated ability to develop investment cases and having the resilience and resourcefulness to overcome challenges.
