Job Description
Typically manages a single team of technical contributors providing maintenance and operational support and/or the development and implementation of new systems and technologies that are relatively straightforward in nature, such as those supporting a single process or function and relatively few technology platforms. Provides the technical oversight and leadership necessary to accomplish work. Provides input to financial and people resource plans for the area. Ensures resources are in place and operating effectively within the technical discipline. Develops work plan and priorities for their area, based on objectives received. Makes hiring recommendations. Responsible for all performance-related activities, including performance reviews. Provides input to compensation decisions. Develops portfolio roadmaps to convey the current and future state vision and status of their portfolios.
Requirements
Required Technical Expertise:
Possesses strong knowledge of the technical area managed. Serves as a technical resource to those managed.
Delegates technical decision making to appropriate levels in the organization while continuing to provide oversight and guidance.
Business Knowledge:
Possesses an understanding of the client areas supported including their functional processes, business objectives and organizational dynamics.
Understands the company's business and how the work within their team impacts and supports the business.
Developing an awareness of best practices in the technology industry as it relates to their work\
Typical Challenges Addressed:
Resolves technical and business issues escalated from their team successfully. Appropriately escalates to their manager only issues of significant risk, sensitivity and impact on the business.
Improves work procedures and processes for their area continually.
Assists in the development and presentation of various analyses to management (e.g., organizational, systems, feasibility, cost/benefit studies, implementation plans).
Manages the resolution of issues across the IT organization, partnering with their IT peers.
Successfully addresses people management issues on the team.
Ensures root cause analysis is completed and learnings are integrated into new or revised SOPs.
Manages conflicting priorities and allocations and escalates as appropriate.
Experience and Education
Fluency in Japanese (JLPT N1) and business level English
Direct Team Management experience for minimum 3 years.
Typical candidates will possess 6+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Advanced degree highly desirable.
