Job Description
Title: EHS SPECIALIST

Summary:
This position is key to our EHS Section in Japan, and we are looking for a strong, independent professional with expertise in EHS working closely with the EHS Country manager at manufacturing sites.
The selected candidate shall exercise his/her technical and business acumen skills to deliver EHS agenda & implement effective programs.

Key responsibilities:
- Support and advice site management on all EHS aspects; act as a coach to line managers to ensure that EHS becomes and remains a line responsibility
- Develop and deploy EHS vision aligned with company strategy for the site taking into account both the OPS/EHS Global Strategy/initiatives as well as the local legislation
- Manage compliance with all EHS Regulations and Internal EHS Directives and Guidelines
- Responsible for all Site EHS trainings for new and existing employees and contractors
- Ensure KPI reporting is complete and initiate actions to drive towards the agreed targets
- Track site safety audits and incidents, analyse trends on audits, incidents and near miss reports and report same to management team
- Manage all hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities
- Maintain good relationships with relevant external stakeholders (authorities/communities/network)
- Act as primary contact for Federal, State, and local EHS regulatory agencies
- Direct and support Manufacturing management of all Environmental, Health and Safety functions for a site, in compliance with EHS policies and processes, and with all applicable EHS regulations

Requirements
- University degree in chemistry, Engineering, EHS or other related field
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in the industry and prior experience in an EHS plant
- Appropriate country EHS qualification/certifications
- IT knowledge (Office)
- Native Japanese, fluent English
- Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Risk Control
- Root Cause Analysis
- Process Safety Management
- AuditH+S Management
- Emergency Management
