Company Overview
It is a fully integrated law firm, comprising lawyers licensed to practice not only under Japanese law, but also various other key jurisdictions throughout the world. It operates as the Tokyo arm of the global firm, and has the ability to be a one-stop-shop for all legal needs whether they comprise of cross-border or domestic matters.

Job Description
The position of Business Development Manager plays a key role in the execution of the Tokyo office business plan and particularly focusing on the Tokyo Key Clients and Industry Group's strategic business development and marketing initiatives. This is mainly a business strategy planning and implementation role. It doesn’t require any sales or direct regular client interaction.
Reporting to the Head of BDMC, this position is part of the In-Market Tokyo Business Development, Marketing & Communications team, and requires collaboration with team members across the Firm to provide proactive, reliable and timely advice and services. The role is critical in connecting with regional and global clients and industry
programmes to ensure alignment and consistency.
The role is both operational and strategic, and a 'can-do' attitude and flexible approach is a must. The ideal candidate will have highly attuned influencing skills, excellent interpersonal and project management skills and the ability to flex style to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

The Firm’s BDMC function works closely with our Partners and leadership teams to:
 Increase our revenue, profitability, and share across markets, industries and clients
 Enable us to win, retain and grow business through powerful pitches, engaging thought leadership and strong relationship management
 Lead market & client intelligence efforts to create new service line opportunities in industry and practice groups
 Channel the company brand, identity and culture through a single communications voice

You will report to Head of Business Development, Marketing and Communications, Japan.

Requirements
Technical skills, qualifications, and experience:
 Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing, business development
and/ or client development
 Experience in a law firm or other professional services firm is
preferred but not essential
 Degree in business, marketing or equivalent
 Experience in business strategy and internal planning and execution
of projects
 Excellent English and Japanese reading, writing, and verbal skills
 High degree of proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
 Attention to detail, methodical and high-quality task delivery

 A proven ability to pay close attention to detail and strong organisational
skills.
 Ability to form effective relationships with demanding internal clients

 Works well independently and in a team
