Job Description
About the Team
This company's Japan's financial accounting team handles the core financial accounting responsibilities of entities in Japan. We are responsible for establishing in-region accounting for a group of businesses, advising and working with the industry, and collaborating cross-functionally. You will be responsible for providing financial accounting statements for the Company and/or specific affiliates, including preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual books, assets management, handling audits, tax audits, and related project affairs.

As the Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the business model and internal logic of related products and services in Japan and Korea, familiarize yourself with our leading financial systems and solutions, navigate the data- and technology-driven financial accounting management process, and participate in a variety of cross-border, cross-functional projects and utilize your exceptional leadership skills. You will also lead a professional team, work with relevant colleagues outside of Japan and Korea, and build trust and cooperation in a multicultural environment.

Responsibilities
1. Take ownership and accountability for accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of financial accounting and reporting processes(e.g. Monthly, quarterly, annual closing, quality control, etc),
2. Involve in all accounting actions compliant with IFRS/Japan/Korea GAAP and business practices.
3. Manage preparation and coordination of the annual accounts and the related internal/external audit.
4. Control quality and report financial statements and related documents to related stakeholders.
5. Participate, collaborate, and coordinate stakeholders for financial and accounting system-related projects,
6. Work closely with Operations, Tax, Product, Legal, IT, and other groups to ensure a high level of service.
7. Ensure adequate internal control is adhered to in financial accounting and reporting processes.
8. Fixed asset management, storage management, sales and receivables management, etc,
9. Manage, coach, and develop talent in the finance team and make the team function at its full potential.
10. Other duties related to the above.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
1. More than 5 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in auditing firms or listed companies.
2. Experience in developing and implementing successful finance or accounting-related projects.
3. Hold at least 1 certificate of USCPA, Japan CPA, Korea CPA, or chartered accountant.
4. Ability to build relationships, influence, and collaborate with various cross-functional partners without direct authority.
5. Proficiency in spreadsheets and any ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
6. Fluency in Japanese and English, both verbally and in writing.
7. Strong organizational and coaching skills, with a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to self-start and self-direct in an unstructured environment.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience in a start-up and/or Internet tech industry is preferred.
2. Experience in ERP implementation is preferred.
3. Mandarin or Korean language ability is a plus.
4. An in-depth understanding of Japanese or Korean tax regulations is a plus.
5. Willing to work in a diversified and multilanguage (English & Japanese) environment.
